Benjamin Gruenbaum
Benjamin Gruenbaum is a 6th semester pre-med, psychology major. Ben was an FYE mentor with John Szarlan as well as a Supplemental Instruction leader for Psychology 132, working with Dr. David Miller as. In the summer of 2006, he was among 40 students selected worldwide to participate in the Magen David Adom Volunteer Program in Israel where he participated in a hands-on training program in emergency medicine. Ben is also very involved with Hillel, serving as co-religious vice president and co-president of first year students. He is also a Community Assistant and involved with the UConn Pre-Medical Society and Freshman Outreach for the Jewish Students Association. Ben has a strong interest and enthusiasm for teaching. Ben is very dedicated and has influenced many students - two qualities that not only exemplify an FYE mentor but also will help him to be successful inside and outside of UConn.

Robert Gendreau
Robert Gendreau is a 6th semester Healthcare Management major. Robert has done multiple community service activities including Hurricane Katrina Relief trips, tutoring at Nachaug Elementary School and Mansfield Middle School, and serving as a campus big buddy. Robert shows his commitment to making the world a better place; as an FYE mentor (and on a day-to-day basis) Robert helped multiple students with not just academic issues but also personal family problems. In addition, Robert has been able to accomplish these many co-curricular pursuits while still maintaining a 3.6 GPA and earning Dean's List honors for three semesters. Robert's worth ethic, integrity, and compassion are three characteristics that allow him to make connections to others which help them to succeed and help him to succeed here at UConn.
